As China’s economy makes the transition towards being more consumer-led rather than investment-driven, Sales & Marketing professionals are becoming increasingly sought after, says recruiting expert Hays.
China is looking to boost consumption and reduce its reliance on investment for economic growth. As a result, the recruiter says there is strong demand for professionals who can develop company brands and generate increased revenue.
“While sales and marketing professionals are in high demand across the board, probably the skill in greatest demand is digital marketing in North China,” says Simon Lance, Regional Director of Hays in China. “Digital marketing professionals are sought by companies to support the development of their brands and generate direct revenue from online and digital channels. To respond to the demand, Hays Beijing has launched a recruitment team in Beijing that specialises in sales & marketing functions.
“The rapid evolution of digital marketing is set to continue over the next decade and this will have a huge impact on the skills employers need. As the business landscape shifts, marketers must evolve with the times in order to fully connect with their customers and drive business growth. Otherwise they will be left behind in this expanding jobs market.”
But Hays note this is not the only area of jobs growth in China’s sales and marketing sector.
“As online business becomes more popular Ecommerce and Online Marketing Managers are needed too in order to manage company promotion,” says Simon.
“And while digital marketing jobs are growing, demand still exists for more traditional forms of marketing. Marketing and events experts in the FMCG and beverage industries have become especially sought after in recent months.
“PR and events professionalsare also needed as many companies still rely heavily on their influence in the media and want to hold events to promote their brands.”
And Simon notes that in the sales arena there is also high demand for certain skilled professionals. “Due to the increased expansion of retail stores in China, we are seeing more jobs for Retail Sales and Boutique Managers. The rapid introduction of brands, products and services into China has resulted in a significant need to improve customer service.
“Also, Business Development Managers and Customer Relationship Managers are needed across various industries as they are at the core of any revenue driven business. Employers are looking for candidates with a proven ability to grow new business or enter into new markets.”
